Christmas/Sinsmas in the Tower

2016: Vox couldn't speak comprehensibly and was almost completely oblivious to the world around him. Both Val and Vel just avoided him; they had so much work to do, and it wasn't like Vox had any idea what day (or year) it was, anyway.

2017: Valentino spent the day with Vox. He'd been spending extended periods of time with him recently, trying to get him to remember anything about their past relationship. Vox was withdrawn that day, so Val was basically just having a one-sided conversation with himself while Vox refused to look him in the eye. Velvette didn't visit.

2018: Vox was stuck in 1950s brain that day. He was receptive when told that it was Christmas and actually celebrated with Velvette, albeit while operating under the assumption that she was Sarah. Velvette was uncomfortable, but she stayed the whole day, feeling guilty about the way she'd avoided him the past two years. Valentino was AWOL at the time. He'd lost hope that Vox would ever recover and was too bitter and grief-stricken to bear to see him.

2019: Probably their best year. Vox was going through a relatively good patch; he was in a good mood, glad to have guests, and wasn't as scattered as usual. Val and Vel both visited and were so pleasantly surprised by Vox's amicability that they were able to be in the moment and enjoy themselves. The three of them had a nice, peaceful little Christmas.

2020: Another fairly decent year. Vox was manic that day, but thankfully he was more interested in interacting with people than in rapidly zapping from one thing to another. Val actually had a lot of fun that year; Vox didn't perceive him as a threat and was ready to party, so the two of them got to fuck around for most of the day, being loud and obnoxious and careless. Velvette had a good time too at first, but as the day went on, she started to become slightly concerned (and annoyed) when it became clearly that Vox wasn't winding down, he was revving up. She hated being the spoilsport, but she had to put her foot down when Vox started making electronics explode to impress Val.

2021: Vox was not doing well that day. Valentino and Velvette were planning on visiting, but when they were told that it was a "yelling and throwing things" kind of day, they realized it just wasn't an option. They sent an intern in so Vox wouldn't have to spend the holiday completely alone. The intern ended up dying pretty quickly.

2022: Things looked like they were going okay at first. Val was MIA, so Velvette came to visit in the morning. Vox seemed alright, although there was a certain skittishness to his behavior that didn't sit right with her. He also seemed to be cycling through delusions at a faster rate than usual; sometimes she was Sarah, sometimes an acquaintance, sometimes the person responsible for locking him up (or at least someone complicit in it). Vel had to leave in the afternoon to take care of work stuff, and Vox got highly agitated when she told him she had to go. She got out of the suite alright, but when she sent someone else in to keep him company, Vox managed to knock them unconscious and slip out. Whole floors of the tower were in chaos– Vox was acting aggressively and ended up doing a lot of damage. It wasn't clear if he was looking for someone (probably Velvette) or just trying to escape. Velvette ended up having to subdue him herself– one of the few times she had to get legitimately physical with him.

2023: Val and Vel couldn’t make it at the same time, so they visited in shifts. Vox was… okay, but his mood was off. He just seemed ill at ease and more distant than usual. The Vees tried their best, but they were both preoccupied with other things, and Vox's strange mood started affecting them as well. The day ended up being sort of a dud. Val and Velvette were somewhat relieved when their time was up and they didn't have to continue trying to interact with him. Vox was disappointed and anxious when they left, but he didn't pitch a fit. He spent most of that day alone with Vark, unable to articulate why he felt so much lonelier than usual.

Thinking about the perspective @didnt-hear-idsb-live-again gave about the cost of Justin Baldoni’s smear campaign against Blake compared to touring and about how little it takes to try to destroy someone’s life. And it once again makes me think of Taylor’s experience in 2016 where we can fairly safely presume similar tactics were waged against her, and how she said of that time in Vogue:

“When you say someone is canceled, it’s not a TV show. It’s a human being. You’re sending mass amounts of messaging to this person to either shut up, disappear, or it could also be perceived as, Kill yourself.”

And it makes me wonder: what is the going rate for someone’s life? What’s the itemized bill to create the special sauce accounts that will drive your target to end their life? Is that a surcharge to the standard PR hit campaign package? Is that a KPI? Is that considered satisfactory ROI by the client? Is there a bonus if that ends comes within the contract timeframe?

The way these people talk about their plan reduces their target (Blake) to practically an avatar of their hate, completely dehumanizing her, which is the entire objective. The cruelty, as always, is the point.

“Mac?” Frown deepening, Riley takes a few steps forward. “Hey. Are you… okay?” It’s a monumentally stupid thing to ask given that Riley doesn’t even think she’s okay, but Mac’s supposed to be the seasoned agent here. Plus, as much as she hates to think about it, Riley’s pretty sure that Mac’s seen worse when he was in the Army disarming bombs, or whatever it was that he did out there.

When she puts her hand on his shoulder, all she gets is a shudder. “Mac, I think you’re in shock.”

This time, he swallows. “I’m okay.”

“Do you know where you are?”

“Home.”

“Where’s home?”

This time, Mac moves with sudden movements, nearly smacking Riley in the face with the speed at which he turns. “Where’s Jack?”

“Mac, where’s home for you?”

“Here. Where’s Jack?”

She just barely stops herself from sighing. Moving until she’s in front of Mac’s face again, Riley desperately looks for some sign of concussion or something to explain his behavior. “Tell me where you are.”

“California.”

Truth be told, Riley was hoping for a more specific answer, but at this point she’ll take it as a win.

“I need to get Jack-”

“He’s okay.”

Mac shakes his head, taking a step away from Riley. “I need to- they’ll never let me go out if the sun sets, I-”

“Hey, hey! You don’t need to rescue him. He’s fine.” Against her better judgement, Riley reaches for his arm, hoping that the action will ground him and not cause her to end up with a bloody nose. “Mac, look at me. Jack’s at the Phoenix right now. I mean, he’s a little busted up, but he’s also not the only one.”

This time, it’s Mac’s turn to frown. “Are you hurt?”

Riley tightens her grip a little. “No. Mac, you were- you know what, why don’t we go get Jack?”

Belatedly, Mac nods.

When they brought her onto DXS, Riley really wasn’t expecting the guy who could hack everything other than computers, the guy who couldn’t possibly be older than her but still seemed to have all the confidence in the world, to look like this. And for the first time in her adult life, Riley would be willing to admit, out loud, that she wishes Jack Dalton were here.

I don't know if I'm missing something but why are people saying the GPF in YoI happened in the 2016-17 season? Like, it's very obviously held in the same arena as the real 2015-16 gpf down to the placement of the exits so where is the 2016 argument coming from??? I hear Viktors win in Sochi happened in 2014 (which I cannot find anywhere in the series, please tell me where it says so) which would mean Yuuri takes silver in 2015.

And there isn't a gap year. When it in episode one supposedly says "March one year later" what it actually says is "March the following year" because the GPF happens in December making Yuuri's return happen the following year. Viktor is also never described as a six-time Grand Prix Champion, only ever five-time and we know he won his fifth gold in Sochi, leaving for Japan after the end of the season. Stéphane also says that Yuuri "showed us a performance that no one would have expected after last year's Final." firmly placing it one year after Sochi, aka Yuuri's only other GFP at that point.

Please tell if I'm missing something, I know the qualifiers are a whole mess with them matching none of the seasons but this show is also so internally inconsistent it hurts, with skaters' ages changing from episode to episode (not because of birthdays mind you) and the Japanese dub and English sub contradicting each other (as far is I've heard).

Please, I just want my gay ice anime to be internally consistent T_T

Mischief and Inf fronting again!! We're doing good on mental spoons it seems cuz they've both been frontstuck the past couple days and that is *Extremely* rare! Usually Mischief fronting for longer than a few hours tires us out Lots but that hasn't been the case this time around!

Getting our chores done!! My fuckign God we had so many dishes to do this week and they were all fuckinfjfjddjnd Oily and cleaning them was pure hell but we got them Done thank fuck. We still have some dishes to do tomorrow but not a lot!!

Watching tv w our parents!! We've been binge watching AHS Delicate and it is....... Certainly a season so far. Vol is Not enjoying it lmao. He's So fucking grossed out by everything going on and I'm like "This is great :)) don't you want kids now :))" and he's like "No!!!!" Uaiaaosodkdkskdfjf final episode should be on Hulu tomorrow night :3c Can't wait to see how it ends & hopefully maybe also start watching an older AHS season!

I think the main difference I notice between the average USAmerica leftist and Brazilian leftist can be attributed to the fact that Brazil had a dictatorship, that was fought with tooth and nails to get rid of, and past that we got universal healthcare and voting rights again. I wish I could say all of Latin America is like this since so many of us had dictatorships but I don't know that many people from other countries (if you're latino please tell me), i think the average brazilian leftist understands there's no worth on peacefully resisting and if you want something, you need to fight or you'll be take and killed, or silenced, or "suicided". I note in a lot of (mainly white) USAmerican leftists that they wait for the change to be made for them instead of going like "wait, I can be a catalyst for changes" even if they're small.
